Fridgify : Smart Fridge

Project Summary

Fridgify was a personal project that aimed to solve a common household problem—forgetting what’s in the fridge and wasting food. The app was designed to help users track expiration dates, suggest recipes based on available ingredients, and streamline grocery planning.

Concept and Inspiration

The project’s focus was to develop an intuitive app with key features such as:

  • Expiration date tracking with reminders.
  • Smart recipe suggestions based on fridge contents.
  • Grocery list automation based on items running low.
Development Process
  • The design process involved:

    • Wireframing & UX Research – understanding user behaviors around grocery shopping and food storage.
    • UI Design – creating a visually appealing yet highly functional layout.
    • Prototyping & Testing iterating based on feedback to improve usability.

Challenges, Reflections and Key Takeaways

The biggest challenge was balancing functionality with ease of use. The app had to be smart without being overwhelming. I tackled this by focusing on minimal interactions, quick item additions, clear reminders, and straightforward navigation. This project taught me a lot about designing with real-world usability in mind. It reinforced the importance of seamless UX/UI and made me appreciate how small design choices can significantly impact user behavior. Seeing Fridgify come to life made me more excited about the intersection of design and everyday problem-solving.
