Project Summary
This project was a complete rebranding and digital transformation of Transient Workers Count Too (TWC2), a non-profit organization for advocating the rights and welfare of migrant workers in Singapore. Our goal was to redesign a cohesive brand identity that would not only enhance TWC2’s public presence but also improve accessibility for both donors and the workers it supports. The project had three key components: a redesigned website for better information flow and donation processes, a mobile app tailored to migrant workers’ needs, and an on-the-ground campaign to foster community and encourage app adoption.
Concept and Inspiration
Our design approach was centered on connection and accessibility. The campaign name Sangam, meaning “coming together” in several south ssian languages, reflected our aim to foster unity among migrant workers. The branding drew inspiration from worker experiences, using warm, bold visuals to evoke trust and support.
Development Process
We started with research, conducting surveys, analyzing user behavior, and reaching out to workers and donors to understand their pain points. From there, we worked in phases:
- Branding: Creating a visual identity that aligned with TWC2’s mission while feeling fresh and modern.
- Website: Wireframing and prototyping a site that improved navigation and streamlined donation workflows.
- App Design: Developing a user-centric interface, prioritizing accessibility for a demographic with varying levels of digital literacy.
- Campaign Strategy: Designing event spaces, posters, and interactive touchpoints for workers.
Challenges, Reflections and Key Takeaways
This project reinforced the importance of designing with empathy. It wasn’t just about aesthetics but about creating meaningful interactions that could genuinely help people. Working in a team also helped me sharpen my collaborative skills, from aligning visions to incorporating feedback. Seeing the final campaign and digital assets come together was incredibly fulfilling, proving that design has the power to bridge gaps and create an impact.
